I can spot it a mile off because of my past and invite you to
help me help them, the deserving, the proud and those
lost in the speed of the modern world, in the
confusion of telephone scams and
unemployment due to age.

Not to those at a stoplight who put a pebble in their almost new Adidas
running shoes so they can mimic a limp while begging from car to car
claiming homelessness and carrying a cardboard sign saying, “God Bless You”

But to the elderly picking through their purses for nickels and dimes
at the grocery store. We swipe our card over the reader to
pay for them and keep on walking.

People like that.

To those walking in the snow with holes in their shoes.
To those without jackets in winter.

To the unemployed, to the widows ose
